기독교 상담가 게리 채프먼의 『5가지 사랑의 언어』. 20여 년간 결혼생활 세미나 인도자로서 부부를 위한 상담 사역을 해오고 있는 저자가, 자신이 보고 듣고 겪은 부부간의 이야기를 예로 들어가며 5가지 사랑의 언어에 대해 다룬다. 부부뿐 아니라, 세상 모든 인간관계에 새로운 통찰력을 가져다주고 있다.
특히 모든 사람의 제1의 사랑의 언어는 서로 다를 수 있다고 강조한다. 그래서 부부간에 사랑의 언어가 다를 때에는 서로 사랑하고 있음에도 상대가 사랑을 느끼지 못할 수도 있다는 것이다. 저자는 그럴 때 자신의 사랑의 언어를 강요하기보다는 상대의 사랑의 언어와 맞춰가야 한다고 말한다. 그래야지만 상대가 변화되어 부부간의 사랑이 넓고 깊어지기 때문이다. 미국 ECPA 골드메달리온 수상작이다.

Dr. Eunjung Kim graduated from Catholic University of Korea School of Nursing (1986), earned an M.S.N. in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program (2006) and a Ph.D. in Nursing Science and Human Development and Family Studies (2001) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Kim is a nurse scientist and active pediatric nurse practitioner. Her scholarships have contributed to advance nursing knowledge in family health, mental health, and parent training. Much of her work has been dedicated to uncovering the experiences and the voices of minority families who live in two cultures and experience intergenerational conflicts due to different rates of acculturation using Korean immigrants as an example population. She used this knowledge to redefine minority parenting and to develop a parent training program that incorporates culture, faith, and evidence based effective parenting recommendations. This program continues to be used in local Korean immigrant communities. Here is the powerpoint of the Stewardship parenting program if you want to use them. Dr. Kim is the author of more than 40 articles published in peer reviewed, interdisciplinary and international journals. She also work as a pediatric nurse practitioner at a local family clinic.
