‘Walk Slowly’ Fever in Korea
About the Book

I have been working as a planner, researcher and educator in Korea. Most of time I worked in the regional planning field. My main interest is how to develop or manage the area in a environmental sound sustainable development way and also how to involve the next generation to our community, because that is the very important to be healthy and harmonious our community and environment. I’m planning to study urban planning in the multidisciplinary approach with education. I studied Ecotourism and Regional Development at Environmental Graduate School in Seoul National University and received a master’s degree. In 2008, I received a doctoral degree with thesis about “Planning method for networking trail routes” at the same school. I have performed many projects in the field of ecotourism and regional planning since 2000. In 2006, I conducted the project for “the Plan of National Trails System in Korea” which was the very first trail project in South Korea. Not only did I introduce National Trail System in Korea, but I have also taken part in many policy researches on trails, ecotourism, and regional development and works on the field of education in Korea. I established “Korean Trails Culture Foundation” and organized “Teenager’s Walking Travel School (TWTS)” for younger people who are poor, isolated or juvenile delinquent. Since 2010, almost 1,000 teenagers participated in this program, and TWTS has received positive reviews from parents, teachers and youth counselor. I had worked as a forest interpreter for about 10 years and involved several projects related to environmental education.
