6 Jai’Shon Berry

This is the story of Jai’Shon Berry, a sophomore at the University of Washington Tacoma. Jai’Shon candidly shares his experiences of being homeless as a youth, the difficulty of finding community, and the challenges of  being a first-generation college student in the process of asserting his identity.  Jai’Shon speaks about the difficulties of growing up in a not so progressive environment and how this impacted him, particularly as it pertains to his sexuality. In the end, Jai’Shon’s shares his unique viewpoints and visions for the future that he hopes can help others.
