How do I put my whole instructor-led course online?

So you have a class that you are teaching live and now you need to take it online. No problem, you think! Slam dunk! “I already have all the material, I can just transfer it into the learning management system and we’ll be live with the course by lunch time!”

Unfortunately it’s not that easy. We can’t just simply do a wholesale transfer of a classroom-based course to an online format. Even though we are talking about the same learners, we need to be thinking how we can transform our content so that it is engaging and motivating online – when there is no instructor in the front of the classroom to keep everyone awake and on task.
