Cultivate Learning Values

We are champions of service and align with partners and initiatives that foster positive outcomes for children, families, and educators.

We commit to equity by working to remove systemic oppression and institutional racism, so each community member can reach their full potential.

We build environments of belonging and diversity where we communicate openly, support each other, and value the contributions of all identities.

We practice innovation and quality by actively seeking creative ideas from multiple perspectives to evolve and inform the resources we develop.

Our Values

Diversity

We honor diversity by transforming systems and processes through actively seeking new ideas and viewpoints from multiple perspectives including those not currently represented or who have been systematically and historically excluded. We seek to learn from each other, embracing multiple viewpoints, languages, and perspectives to generate new ideas. We seek to do our work with empathy, open mindedness, and understanding of our shared and different stories.

Equity

We see Equity as a thoughtful process of recognizing and removing systematic oppression, and institutional racism so everyone has equal access to obtain what they need to reach their full potential.

Belonging

Our community values the strengths of each individual and our interconnectedness with each other. We create an environment where we communicate openly, support each other and share resources so each community member and the organization can reach their goals.

Innovation

We believe Innovation is the courage to try something new without knowing for certain the outcome to increase the quality of life for children, families, and educators.

Service

We see Service as a form of mindful listening coupled with responsive acts of kindness that support individuals and communities to meet their goals and aspirations.

Quality

We adhere to practices informed by research and experience to create materials and services that result in positive outcomes for children, families, and educators. We institute rigorous processes to evolve our work to reflect and meet the needs and values of the communities we work with and represent.

Targeted Universalism

Cultivate Learning values were influenced by john a. powell’s work on targeted universalism, othering, and belonging. Learn more about these concepts by checking out the Othering & Belonging Institute webpage and watching this interview with Gail Joseph and john a. powell.
