Women in the Media, art by Hailey Cho, shows a television screen with a collage of pictures and the words "You Are Enough"

The belief that “sex sells” is one of the oldest ideas in the advertising world. Historically in the fashion world, women have been pictured next to fragrances or alcohol as a symbol of lust and desire. The objectification of women is still present in our daily lives–from food advertisements to shampoo commercials–and exposes women to impossible beauty standards. I created this piece in hopes of reflecting upon the history of women in the media and bringing awareness to an issue that is still present in the international advertising world today.
