1 E-Learning Proposal

The A in ADDIE is the analysis phase. In the E-Learning Proposal assignment, I was given the opportunity to dissect my reasoning for my E-Learning project concept. I had to think deeply about my learning objectives and my students’ current skills. In the learner personas assignment, I had the opportunity to think about a variety of students that may use this course and how this course would benefit them.

Title: Factoring Polynomials – A Guided Review for Algebra 1 Students

Description: A review course for Algebra 1 students to practice and master factoring polynomials using a variety of methods outside of class instructional time.

Part 1: Project Scope

The course will include five lessons that will each begin with a challenging task, practice activities with feedback, and a lesson assessment. The course will also include a summative assessment.

Part 2: Background
  • Gap: Factoring polynomials is a large focus in Algebra 1 and a needed skill to continue in other units throughout Algebra 1 and 2. However, students are struggling to perform well in these skills.
  • Audience: Algebra 1 Students
  • Training Goal: By the end of the course, students will be able to efficiently factor polynomials using a variety of methods
  • Main Assessment: Lesson based quizzes, and a summative assessment over the entire course
Part 3: Design Approach
  • Format/Structure: Asynchronous course that is self-paced. However, there will be a start date and a completion deadline.
  • Possible Technology: Canvas w/ embedded interactive apps (This is my current plan, but may change depending on apps and level of interactivity)
Part 4: Implementation
  • Context (where, when, how): Course will be open on Canvas during the second semester of the school year. Students will have deadline date to complete prior to end of year testing.  Completing the course and summative assessment score will be a part of the students’ yearly grade.
  • Org Considerations: Canvas is utilized by my district already, but I need to consider my access to Canvas through the summer months to continue creating my course.
