Welcome to the University of Washington Tacoma Seed Library Guide! If you’re new here, here’s how it works:
- You can visit the seed library (housed in a beautiful old card catalog) on the first floor of the Snoqualmie (SNO) Building.
- Fruit, vegetable, herb, and wildflower seeds are available at the UWT Seed Library for you to take home and grow in your own space, completely free of charge. You don’t need to formally check them out or return them!
- We ask that you be thoughtful and take only what you need.
- You can find instructions on how to plant and care for the seeds you take in this guide. You can also share your own tips and pictures via the submission form below.
- While we can’t accept seed donations from individuals, we are committed to providing openly pollinated, Non-GMO seeds. This means you should be able to save plant-able seeds from the plants you grow for yourself in future years or to share with your friends, family, and community.
The UWT Seed Library was made possible by a generous Husky Sustainability Fund grant. The inaugural Seed Library Team included Erika Bailey, Liz Ochoa, Madison Phares, Crysta Rollison, Tim Bostelle, and Marisa Petrich.
Share your knowledge!
Tell us how your garden is growing! You can share resources, recipes, or growing tips in this guide using this submission form. You can also provide feedback to the Seed Library Team and suggest new seeds for us to get in the future.
