A hidden gem of the UW Libraries system, the Tateuchi East Asia Library is located in Gowen Hall on the south end of the Quad. The main entrance and reading room are located on the third floor and are accessible by stair or elevator.
This library has over 800,000 volumes in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Tibetan, and other languages, online databases, and research librarians who support East Asian studies.
Drop in, or make an appointment with a research librarian!
Stop in to browse current books and periodicals from China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan or attend one of the many events and exhibits hosted by the Tateuchi East Asia Library.
The recently renovated reading room, with its domed ceiling and leaded glass windows is a perfect place to get some quiet studying done between classes.
In addition, this library has reservable individual study seats, group study rooms, Zoom pods for private calls and online classes, a Chill & Recharge area, computers, and scanners.
The Tateuchi East Asia Library offers many online databases, journals, and e-books on East Asian history, culture, languages, political systems, and more. See the East Asia Studies Research Guide for some of these online resources.
