6 Collaborating with Block Faculty

It is important to stay in touch with the WWAMI wide faculty throughout the block to insure that students are being taught consistently and that exams are being reviewed. These are accomplished through the Skull Sessions and the Post Assessment Meetings.

Skull Sessions

Skull Sessions are weekly meetings or video recordings with Regional Site Leads, faculty, and small group leaders where Block Directors and/or content experts review the content and intended outcomes for each session in the following week of the block. Skull sessions should be recorded in order to be made available to faculty across the regions. Thread/Theme directors may be invited to skull sessions to discuss thread/theme specific content. Thread/Theme directors can also use Thread/Theme workgroup meetings to review content delivery with thread/theme site leads.

Responsibilities:

Thread/Theme Directors lead discussions about Thread/Theme content as needed.

Thread/Theme Admins None.

Post-Assessment Meetings

Post-Assessment Meetings are where the block and Thread/Theme leads meet with the Assessment team to discuss students’ performance on the exam. These are typically held after teaching is completed in Seattle (~5:30pm Pacific time), on the same day as the exam (exams with essays may be discussed later to allow more time for grading). The group discusses questions that students found particularly challenging and/or questions that discriminated poorly between high- and low-performing students. Based on the discussion, scoring on certain questions may be adjusted.

Responsibilities:

Thread/Theme Directors attend Post-Assessment Meetings for exams that had Thread/Theme content.

Thread/theme Admins none.
