General Technique Tips

  • Only use the jigsaw on flat materials.
  • Give the work your undivided attention. Looking around, carrying on a conversation and horseplay are careless acts which can result in serious injury
    • Do not allow the hand or fingers to come closer than 2 inches to the blade.
  • Plan and mark a cutting line. Use relief cuts as needed.
  • Stabilize the object being cut over an open space.
    • Ensure that nothing is underneath the location of the cut.
    • Secure both sides of the material being cut, consider how the material might flex or fall as it is cut.
    • Ask for help from someone else to secure the side of the material being cut off.
  • Place the baseplate of the jigsaw flat against the material.
  • Let the motor reach the top speed before starting the cut.
  • Slowly advance saw along the cutting line.
    • Do not overly force the blade into the material. Let the blade cut the material.
  • Ensure that that base plate is secured flat on top of the material throughout the cut.
  • Secure both side of the material being cut.
