Tool List

The following tools are required for P&O lab courses. You will have a 12“ W x 16 ½“ L x 6” H drawer to store your tools, you do not need a toolbox. Bring your tools to orientation. Faculty will be confirming that you have the required PPE and tools. Note: The images are examples of the required items. If you are unsure about a tool, contact Sue Spaulding (ewers2@uw.edu).

Respirator

You will be measured for a respirator during orientation. Do not purchase yet.

Foot Protection

Closed toed shoes are required in the lab

Comfortable easy on/easy off shoes, like Crocks or old athletic shoes, work well.

Gardening gloves

These protect your hands during plaster modifications.

Fine point, any color except red. Retractable is easiest to use in a clinic setting.

Surform Rasps/Blades: two round, two ½ round, one flat

No need to buy the handles that come with them, just purchase the replacement blades. Suggest Stanley brand because they last longer.

Teardrop Loop Tool Loops should be sturdy, not flexible.

Optional Tools

Compound Diagonal Cutter

This diagonal cutter can be purchased to use instead of the standard diagonal cutter that we have in the lab, to accommodate for grip strength. If you have a weak grip, it may be helpful to consider purchasing this tool to cut copper rivets.
