Final Thoughts and Advice

“Just do it. 🙂 In all seriousness, if you have other academic interests, I can guarantee that you will be able to find something that connects GWSS to those interests. Those connections may not be readily available in a neat package, like an exact course addressing them, but if you’re passionate about seeking out those intersections, I think it helps you develop an interesting perspective within GWSS and your other fields of interest. It’s difficult but doable!” – Kenji
“Go in with an open mind and be ready to unlearn what you have learned.” – Faith
“If you are considering GWSS, prepare for your understanding of self and basically your life to change. But do it. Do it for yourself and for the world around you!” – Madelyn J.

Those are some valuable pieces of advice. It is true that while you are learning a lot, you will also be unlearning a handful, and it can be a little uncomfortable. However, it is some of the most important work we can do for ourselves, others, and our communities. My own advice would be to take the time to get to know your peers and your community. Share knowledge and experiences. Most importantly, listen. Listen to what others have to say.
