Work Plan

Topic and Goals

My practicum project is optional training on creating a pollinator-friendly habitat. The main goal of this training is to encourage employees to add plants conducive to a thriving pollinator population, rather than turf grass. The course will be delivered fully asynchronously, online via the Brainier LMS. Learning objectives are:

  • Identify five Minnesota-native, pollinator-friendly plants that grow well in garden spaces.
  • Explain which benefits accompany which plants.
  • Describe the importance of adding native plants to garden spaces.
  • Explain some threats pollinators face.

While the scope of my practicum project will be limited to a single course, the overall project I’m envisioning will have 3-6 microlearnings available to learners after the first course has been completed. The microlearnings will expand on each of the learning objectives listed above.

Proposed Elements

I plan on having the main course script completed, and potentially ready for creation in a courseware authoring tool, by June 6th. I expect this course to be between 10 and 15 minutes of seat time.

Timeline

  • April 21st: main structure of course laid out (topics, pages, learning objectives, resources)
  • May 12th: first draft of all written page content and quiz questions/prompts
  • May 26th: second draft of all written page content and quiz questions/prompts
  • June 3rd: final review of entire course (polishing; edits should be minimal here)
  • June 6th: Zoom presentation
