E-Learning Proposal
Title: Creating a Pollinator-Friendly Habitat
Description: This is optional training which will be offered on the company’s LMS. It is a single course which will encourage employees to add plants conducive to a thriving pollinator population. Participants will learn about plants, the importance of adding native plants to home gardens, and some threats faced by pollinators.
Part 1: Project Scope
Complete, single lesson. 15 minutes of learner seat time.
Part 2: Background
- Problem Statement/Performance Gap: Decline of pollinators over the past 25 years.
- Audience: adults working in a corporate office environment who are interested in gardening and/or environmental sustainability.
- Training Goal: Provide information on plants and environment so that employees will feel empowered and equipped to add plants conducive to a thriving pollinator population, rather than turf grass. This training is optional.
- Main Assessment: Test knowledge using multiple-choice question approach, and/or dragging activities. Learners will have the option to comment on the learning object in the LMS, and they can also attach photos to their comments. In this way, learners can share their gardening spaces, if they choose, showing what they have learned from the lesson, or what inspired them.
Part 3: Design Approach
- Format/Structure: Asynchronous self-paced.
- Possible Technology: An LMS and company-provided laptops; possibly some mobile phone usage, though minimal expected.
Part 4: Implementation
- Context (where, when, how): Corporate office; individual company laptops. February 2024. Lesson with launch from the pre-established company LMS. (Employees already have access and user accounts.)
- Organizational Considerations: LMS already exists. Employees each have an account there already. Company is already working on becoming greener, overall. Small pollinator garden already exists on company property. Though many employees work in other geographic locations, much of this information will be relevant to anyone.
