About the Author

Karin Akmal brings a unique blend of advanced scientific expertise and hands-on teaching experience to her work. Her combination of rigorous scientific training, classroom experience, and growing expertise in instructional design positions her to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and effective science education. With a doctorate in Genetics and Cell Biology and degrees in Biology and Animal Science, she spent years illuminating the wonders of physical science, life science, and earth science to middle school students.

Karin left the classroom to develop her skills in instructional design, applying her deep understanding of how students learn science to create engaging educational experiences that make scientific concepts accessible. She completed the E-learning Instructional Design certificate at the University of Washington in June 2025. Karin enjoys life with her Bernadoodle, Luna, and sharing urban fantasy books with her husband.
