2 Prototype
The first D in ADDIE is the design phase. The design phase is the first step in creating something specific that will help to reach your goals set in your analysis phase. It is important that this step is done in a meaningful way. During this phase, I created my first prototype which was then reviewed by two of my peers, and I was able to begin revisions and create a Savvy Start report.

Title:
Factoring Polynomials – A Guided Review
Summary of Project:
My goal is to create a review course for my students to complete
outside of class instruction time. This course will be optional and
can be completed after the unit is completed in class. The course
will cover the Algebra 1 topic of Factoring Polynomials. This is an
ongoing struggling unit for Algebra 1 students, so I wanted to provide
a way for students to have additional instruction and practice
outside of the classroom. It will include five lessons, including
practice and assessments.
Revised Prototype Explanation:
Using feedback from my peers:
-I plan on removing some of the slides that are repetitive and
unnecessary to understand the idea and function of my course.
(Slides 6-9, 11-12)
-I also plan on adding a couple more navigation tools at the bottom
of the slides to move “next” and “back” through the lessons.
-For the practice, students will have opportunities for more than one
attempt
-Lesson objectives will be written at the top of the slides in the
lesson to remind learners of their target
-Try to find ways to implement the quizzes/practice into the elearning course itself, rather than students navigating away from
Canvas to access. I have more to learn on this topic to ensure that
this is something I can do with my current access to Canvas.
Summary
-Overall, I learned that less is more with prototypes. It is okay for the
prototype to be an imperfect draft. I think that this idea was
especially hard for me because when I had the idea for the course, I
wanted to get started building it immediately and therefore I
overthought the prototype. Also, peer feedback is such an amazing
tool. It has been a long time since a project of mine has been
reviewed in depth by someone else, and the feedback I was able to
receive is invaluable. I forgot how important a step peer review can
be.
