About the Author

Brad Downey completed the E-learning Instructional Design certificate at the University of Washington in June 2024.

Brad Downey began his journey in instructional design in the Marine Corps, where he honed his skills on the rifle range by creating effective training programs. Building on this foundation, Brad transitioned to the private and nonprofit sectors, where he continued to excel in developing impactful learning experiences.

Brad served as the Learning and Development Lead at East Wind Nutbutter, a worker-owned nonprofit peanut butter factory. In this role, he trained over 70 employees on proper sanitation protocols, leading to a significant reduction in product contamination incidents and enhancing overall production efficiency. His innovative training programs improved onboarding times and increased employee retention rates.

Additionally, Brad worked as an Onboarding Specialist at The Truck Patch health food store, where he developed comprehensive onboarding programs that quickly brought new employees up to speed and ensured a consistent and high-quality customer service experience.

Now freelancing, Brad is dedicated to working with nonprofit organizations to make a difference that betters us all. He leverages his extensive experience to create tailored educational materials and training programs that empower teams and communities to achieve their goals effectively and efficiently.
