Canvas Setup Information
Using EarlyEdU Course Content in another LMS
Once you have a copy of the course in EarlyEdU Canvas, you can take the EarlyEdU course content out of Canvas three ways. Ultimately, you may need to work with your learning management system (LMS) admin team for additional support to import the EarlyEdU course content into your own LMS.
1. Canvas Course Export
Canvas course content can be exported to an IMS common cartridge (.imscc) zip file, which is also supported by other modern LMS. Expect a few errors moving between LMS due to LMS differences but for the most part, the EarlyEdU course content will transfer.
In EarlyEdU Canvas, head to the Course Settings, then Export Course Content, and export the course. Once a course export file has been created, download it somewhere you will remember. The file should end with .imscc; please keep that filename extension unless directed otherwise by your LMS. Learn more at How do I export a Canvas Course?
Importing into other LMS
EarlyEdU does not support or troubleshoot course content outside of EarlyEdU Canvas. Here is more information on how to use the common cartridge file with another LMS.

2. Offline HTML Course Content
Canvas course content can also be exported for offline viewing as a set of HTML files. By default, offline content is not enabled in EarlyEdU Canvas. Please contact support@earlyedualliance.org to request offline content for your course. When enabled, the offline content can create a zip file of HTML files for the entire course. Learn more at How do I view course content offline as an HTML file as a student?
Unpack the zip file and you will find index.html which will open in your default browser and contains a “modules view” of the course content.
While the course content displays in a web browser, the course is not considered “live” content and assignments, discussions, and quizzes cannot be submitted.
3. ePub Course Content
Canvas course content can also be exported as an ePub file that can be uploaded into any eReader software for viewing only. By default, EarlyEdU Canvas courses do not have ePub Exporting enabled. You can enable this feature in the Course Settings ➡ Feature Options for your course.
Once enabled, follow the instructions at How do I view course content offline as an ePub file as an instructor? to access the ePub.
The ePub file is a good option for viewing course material, but the course is not “live” content and assignments, discussions, and quizzes cannot be submitted.
