EarlyEdU Approach

Additional Adaptations

Institutions of higher education participating in the EarlyEdU Alliance sign an agreement that specifies ways they can use EarlyEdU course materials. These guidelines are intended to ensure that the EarlyEdU approach and the Intentional Teaching Framework are maintained, while also allowing instructors to use the materials in the way that best suits their participants’ needs.

Examples of adaptations

Make it your own

Draw on your own experiences and use your own voice to engage participants in the course content. Be creative! For example, use the provided lecture videos as inspiration to create your own. It is important that you make the content relevant to your community.

Add or substitute readings

Be sure to consider who is represented in readings you choose. Are they authored by a culturally and ethnically diverse group of experts in the field of early childhood education? Do they represent children with diverse abilities and their families, children and families who are multilingual learners, and/or children with diverse racial and ethnic identities?

Add or substitute assignments

Be sure to use practice-based assignments, regular feedback for participants, and opportunities to help them develop their skills in giving feedback.

Add content, such as additional video or activities

Members can find many relevant video and multimedia resources in the EarlyEdU Alliance® Media Library. Terms of use are also located on that page.

Ensure any additional content meets accessibility requirements. Before making additions consider, “How might this information present barriers to learners?” Adopt guidelines for accessible presentations and discussions created by the Digital Library Foundation.

Use CORP outside of Coaching Companion

You can use CORP during in-class activities or discussions online. You will have to set up the discussion groups in your LMS.
