Teaching Practices Standards

The role of the instructor is crucial to learner success and can be established both live and asynchronously. These standards represent suggested locations for instructors to customize with their information.

Standard C9: Inclusive practices

Description

There is an area where the instructor provides information about practices that facilitate equitable, inclusive learning. These areas may include (but are not limited to) visiting/office hours, late work policy, religious exemptions. These areas can be found at Course Resources, the instructor area of the teaching team, or in the syllabus handout.

Standard C10: Introduction and contact information

Description

There is an area where the instructor contact information is provided along with a personal introduction. Ideally instructor information should be completed on the Teaching Team page and in the provided syllabus handout. Additionally, a picture should be included of the instructor as part of the introduction.

Standard C11: Commitment to inclusion

Description

There is an area where the instructor specifies their commitment to equity and inclusion.

Example

Specific area for Commitment to equitable learning environment with prompt for instructor to include statement of values and beliefs.
