Book Description
This book introduces ecoart (environmental art) and activism in Brazil. The idea for this material came from a study abroad program to Brazil conducted for the first time in 2025 with a group of students from the University of Washington (PORT 370 – Art, Activism, and the Environment in Brazil). Since the program was hosted at the Pantanal region (cities of Campo Grande and Aquidauana), most of the environmental issues presented here tend to focus on this region. In collaboration with students, scholars (both in Brazil and in the U.S.), and Indigenous and Quilombola peoples, we hope to present significant aspects about the environment in Brazil. One of the goals of this project is to give more visibility for Indigenous and Quilombola communities and their fight for cultural and environmental survival.
