Block directors should be aware of the accommodations offered to students in order to direct students requesting accommodations and to support students once accommodations are granted. This can include absences and exam rescheduling, Disability accommodations, and religious accommodations.

Student Absences and Exam Rescheduling

Students are required to attend labs, small groups, and patient sessions. They are encouraged to attend all other sessions. Please see and direct students to the Attendance and Absentee Policy for more information.

Students may reschedule an exam because of illness or family emergencies. They may also reschedule an exam for a personal event (e.g., wedding, conference, etc.) once per term. Please see and direct students to the Exam Reschedule Policy for more information.

Block Directors can direct students to the appropriate policy or to their regional Foundations Deans for more information.

Disability Accommodations

All students’ disability accommodations are handled by the UW Disability Resources for Students (DRS) office. Once accommodations are granted, Block Directors will receive a DRS notification, via email, informing them of the specific accommodation. Most accommodations relate to exams and will be managed by SomTests. (Examples of other accommodations include allowing students to have assisted listening devices or special standing desks in class.) Please direct students requesting accommodations to contact the DRS office at uwdrs@uw.edu.

Religious Accommodations

Students are responsible for sending any religious accommodations requests to the UW. Notification of any accommodations granted will be sent to the Block Directors. Please see and direct students to the Religious Accommodations Policy.
